Can Crowns or Veneers Be Completed in One Day in Korea?

When a dental crown or veneer may be completed in one day, what an in-house CAD/CAM workflow changes, and why some cases need more visits.

Yes, some crowns and smaller veneer cases can be scanned, made, and fitted in one day using an in-house digital workflow. One-day completion is never automatic: decay, root-canal needs, gum health, bite complexity, material choice, and the number of teeth all affect whether it is clinically appropriate.

What makes one-day treatment possible?

In a digital chairside workflow, the prepared tooth is scanned, the restoration is designed with CAD software, and a ceramic or zirconia block is milled on site. When design, manufacturing, fitting, and adjustment happen within the clinic, the delay created by sending impressions to an outside laboratory can be removed.

Which cases may fit a one-day plan?

A single crown or inlay on a stable tooth is often simpler to schedule than a multi-tooth cosmetic case. Some smaller veneer cases may also be completed quickly when the teeth and gums are healthy, the desired design is straightforward, and the selected material works with the digital milling process.

Suitability is confirmed after an examination and imaging. A photo review before travel can help us plan time, but it cannot reveal every issue beneath a restoration, around a root, or within the bite.

Why might a crown or veneer need more than one visit?

  • Deep decay or symptoms indicate that root-canal treatment may be needed first.
  • Active gum inflammation must be stabilized before the final margin or appearance can be assessed.
  • A cracked tooth, limited remaining tooth structure, or another diagnosis changes the restoration plan.
  • Complex bite relationships or multiple restorations require more design and adjustment.
  • A larger veneer case may need additional design approval, characterization, or trial stages.
  • The most appropriate material or treatment may not be compatible with a same-day workflow.

In these situations, adding time is not a failure of the digital system. It is a clinical decision to avoid letting travel convenience determine the wrong treatment.

    The dentist checks the tooth, gums, bite, symptoms, and X-ray before confirming that a same-day crown is appropriate.

Is a one-day veneer plan the same as a one-day crown?

No. A crown generally restores one tooth around its full visible structure, while veneers are primarily planned around the front surface and smile design. The visual relationship among several teeth can make veneer cases more design-sensitive, even when milling is fast.

Does faster manufacturing mean the treatment is better?

Speed is useful when it reduces unnecessary temporary restorations and return visits, but it is not the main measure of quality. Diagnosis, preparation design, material selection, bonding or cementation, bite adjustment, and maintenance still matter.
