How to Plan Dental Treatment in Korea Before You Travel
A practical checklist for planning dental care in Korea: what records to send, how to confirm timing and costs, and how to arrange follow-up care.

What should you send before travelling to Korea?
Start with information that helps the clinic understand both your dental concern and your time limit. Send the following through the clinic's secure contact route or WhatsApp before buying flights specifically for treatment:
- Your main dental concern and the result you hope to achieve
- Clear phone photos of the teeth or area involved
- A recent panoramic X-ray, CT scan, or relevant dental records if available
- Your arrival and departure dates, including days you cannot attend
- Medical conditions, current medications, allergies, and previous treatment complications
Photos and existing images can help us prepare questions and a provisional appointment sequence. They cannot replace an examination. Dental images may also be outdated or may not show every structure needed for diagnosis, so new imaging can still be necessary after arrival.
What can the clinic confirm remotely—and what must wait?
Before you travel, we can explain likely options, published prices, the usual number of stages, and whether your available dates appear workable. We can also reserve consultation and treatment time around your stay.
We cannot responsibly confirm the final diagnosis, exact fee, suitability for surgery or sedation, or guarantee same-day completion from messages alone. Those decisions depend on an in-person examination and, when indicated, X-rays or a 3D CT scan. This distinction protects you from building a trip around an assumption that changes once the tooth, gums, bone, and bite are examined.

How much time should you leave in your itinerary?
The answer depends on the treatment. A check-up, cleaning, whitening appointment, filling, or suitable same-day restoration may fit into a short stay. Implant treatment usually has a healing interval and often requires two stages. Multiple veneers, root-canal treatment, active gum disease, bone grafting, or bite adjustments can add appointments.
Avoid putting your final appointment immediately before an international flight. Leaving schedule flexibility gives the dentist time to check comfort, bite, healing, or a restoration before you leave. Also ask what activities should be avoided after the procedure; recovery should not be treated as a normal sightseeing day after every type of care.
How should you plan follow-up care after returning home?
Before treatment begins, ask which follow-up visits should occur in Korea and which can be completed by a dentist at home. Keep copies of your treatment summary, relevant images, receipts, and the materials or implant system used. The CDC advises people seeking care abroad to arrange follow-up care and obtain their records before returning home.
If you develop unexpected pain, swelling, bleeding, fever, breathing difficulty, or another concerning symptom during or after travel, seek prompt local medical or dental care rather than waiting for an online reply. For emergencies in Korea, call 119.
